LIBREVILLE, 21 February 2005 — Morocco’s King Mohammed will begin a visit to Gabon today amid expectations that central African countries will launch a regional airline in a joint venture with Royal Air Maroc (RAM) after years of hesitation. The executive secretary of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) and the chief executive officer of the Moroccan flagship are expected to sign a protocol in the Gabonese capital Libreville during the king’s visit. RAM will be the principal shareholder of the airline, to be known as Air CEMAC, whose maiden flight is expected by the end of the year.
