TABUK, 3 March 2005 - Prince Fahd ibn Sultan, governor of Tabuk, has offered to meet all expenses for the education of an Egyptian girl who was the only survivor of a major road accident that killed 12 people in Tabuk on the Eid Al-Adha day.
Five-year-old Marwa was very happy when she was told of the prince's offer. Marwa's whole family died in the late afternoon accident near Dhuba as their car collided with another car carrying a Saudi family.
Muhammad Abdul Rahman, Marwa's father who had worked for a desalination plant in Tabuk, her mother Samah Salem, her sister Asma, and brothers Ahmed and Abdul Rahman perished in the crash. All seven members of the Saudi family also died in the crash.
Marwa escaped the accident with injuries in leg and tongue and bruises in other parts of her body.
Prince Fahd said he would also pay the expenses for her treatment and offered generous financial assistance to her grandparents who are to look after the girl.
"I have received the governor's generous donation," said Ali Abdul Rahman Hussein, uncle of the girl.
"We are now making preparations to send Marwa back to Egypt for further treatment," he said and commended Prince Fahd's noble gesture.
"The news has made our family in Egypt extremely happy and we pray to Allah that He may reward the governor," Hussein told Arab News.
Prince Fahd has also ordered authorities to study the situation of the Saudi family and report to him immediately to take necessary action.
