RIYADH, 6 March 2005 — The Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat) has announced that it will make its debut at the upcoming Cabsat 2005 Middle East International Cable, Satellite, Broadcast & Communications Exhibition in Dubai by unveiling, for the first time in the Middle East, its High Definition TV (HDTV) technology at the show scheduled from March 8-10.
According to Arabsat CEO Khalid Balkheyour, visitors to the show would be able to watch live High Definition Television (HDTV) delivered off their satellite direct to the booth at Cabsat. He said Arabsat is the only full-service satellite operator based in the Middle East. With the launch of its 4th generation of Arabsat satellites in 2005, it leads the region again with higher power, wider coverage and the latest state-of-the-art satellites, he observed.
It will have wider footprint and high power satellites of cutting-edge technology. Many administrations and Arabian companies have booked space segments on these satellites.
Balkheyour pointed out that “Arabsat, within its strategic plans, has opened regional sales and customer service offices in Dubai and Cairo. A map covering three marketing regions has been set up. The first map includes Egypt, North Africa and Europe. The second includes Gulf countries and Iran. The third comprises Arab east countries.”
The exhibition is expected to see global and regional attendance of high ranking officials, besides representatives of Arab and foreign companies as well as enterprises whose latest satellite technology will be displayed.
