Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has warned that fines of up to SR100,000 ($27,000) will be imposed on those who transport visit-visa holders to Makkah to perform Hajj.
Vehicles used to transport these people will be confiscated, the Saudi Press Agency reported recently.
The ministry has urged the public to comply with Hajj regulations, to maintain pilgrim safety and security.
The ministry urged members of the public to report offenders on 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and 999 throughout the Kingdom.
This year’s Hajj is expected to take place between May 25 and 30, depending on the sighting of the moon.
