RIYADH, 23 March 2005 — Six scientists including two female agricultural researchers will be given awards on April 3 by Almarai Company Ltd., the Kingdom’s leading dairy and food products company. “A large number of invitations have been sent out to officials, businessmen and dairy industry leaders to attend the Almarai award ceremony, which will be held in Dammam,” said Waleed Al-Beyabi, a spokesman of Almarai here yesterday.
Al-Beyabi said that “this dairy company, which holds 40 percent share of the fresh dairy market of the Gulf states, has been supporting a number of initiatives including humanitarian projects in the Arab world under the leadership of Almarai’s chairman Prince Sultan ibn Mohammed ibn Saud Al-Kabir. He said that Prince Mohammed ibn Fahd, governor of the Eastern Province, will attend the award ceremony.
Almarai claims to be the first ISO 9002 accredited dairy company in the world, producing over one million liters of milk per day.
