BHOPAL, 2 April 2005 — The Hindu fundamentalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), in a bid to woo Muslims, has constituted a Muslim unit of its newly constituted outfit — “My Hindustan” in Jabalpur town of Madhya Pradesh.
The RSS has undertaken such an exercise in the state for the first time.
According to some RSS workers, “My Hindustan” is a body of ‘nationalist’ Muslims of the Sangh, like the VHP and Bajrang Dal. RSS volunteers have already contacted some Muslims to form the local unit next month.
However, Prashant Pole, working president of Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Mahakoshal region, denied that the RSS has a plan to hold daily meetings of the “My Hindustan” or impart its workers training in use of “lathis” (canes). He said that the new outfit is a platform to interact with nationalist Muslims and to actively engage them in nation building. “Through this, we want to give a befitting reply to the smear campaign run against the RSS that it is against Muslims,” he said.
Meanwhile, M. Hussain, in charge of “My Hindustan” is reaching Jabalpur on April 14 from Uttar Pradesh.
