CAIRO, 3 April 2005 — Renowned Egyptian pop star Amr Diab has just completed recording a new duet with internationally known singer Jennifer Lopez. Amr also appeared in a new softdrink commercial with Jennifer.
He disclosed that he is currently preparing to film the song “Wahashtini” in the form of a music video in Lebanon under the direction of an international musical personality. The singer said that the song will have a romantic theme.
Amr said that he has not started working on his new album, because he wants to add new ideas to it that will satisfy the taste of everyone in the Arab world and abroad. He stressed that he wants to become internationally known through his music.
Amr announced that his new album will feature a variety of style featuring oriental and western tunes. He has signed a contract with a television production company to star in a new drama series, on the condition that all preparations are done in complete secrecy. Amr refused to reveal any details saying he wants his debut on the silver screen to be a surprise to all his fans.
Amr is in the number one spot on the most recent list of ten richest Arab singers. The singer’s is worth $37 million, which is more than Lebanese diva Fairouz’s assets that total $34 million.
