DUBAI: French guard Elie Okobo will play for Dubai Basketball after reaching an agreement with the team on a multi-year deal.
The 28-year-old joins from AS Monaco, where he spent the past four seasons (2022-26), following a one-year stint with fellow French side LDLC ASVEL (2021-22). He becomes the latest addition to Dubai Basketball’s roster ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Okobo arrives in Dubai with extensive experience at the highest level of European basketball. The 1.91-meter guard has appeared in 182 EuroLeague games during his career, averaging 12.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
The signing comes after one of the finest seasons of his career, having been named both the 2025/26 French Championship MVP and the league’s Finals MVP. He also recorded a career-high 4.9 assists per game and scored 470 points in the 2025/26 EuroLeague season. His standout performance came against Paris Basketball in December 2025, when he posted 26 points, four rebounds and a season-high PIR of 39.
Okobo joins Dubai in his prime years as a highly skilled offensive player known for his creativity with the ball and ability to impact games in multiple ways. Okobo is known for creating scoring opportunities from anywhere on the court.
Before his four-year spell with AS Monaco, Okobo spent the 2021-22 season with LDLC ASVEL, building the foundation for a strong career in both the EuroLeague and the French domestic championship.
Throughout his career, Okobo has collected several major honors in France. He arrives in Dubai as the reigning French champion, having won three French Championships with AS Monaco and one with ASVEL.
His impressive 2025-26 campaign was also recognized individually, as he was named the MVP of the season and clinched the title of Finals MVP Betclic Elite, cementing his status as one of the league’s premier players.
Dubai Basketball heads into the 2026-27 season as the reigning ABA League champions and will continue competing in two of Europe’s most prestigious competitions, the EuroLeague and ABA League. This is Dubai’s third ABA League season and second EuroLeague campaign.
