MAKKAH: The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched a challenge to develop improved umbrellas for pilgrims and Umrah performers, inviting innovators, designers, developers, and specialized organizations to submit innovative, practical concepts.
The initiative aims to improve the experience of pilgrims and Umrah performers by enhancing comfort and safety.
The ministry said the challenge was part of its ongoing efforts to improve the pilgrim experience through practical solutions that meet their needs.
It aims to provide better sun protection, improve ease of use, enhance safety, and increase operational efficiency and sustainability.
The challenge seeks an innovative, practical umbrella prototype that is lightweight, easy to carry and use, provides a high level of ultraviolet protection, and can withstand harsh weather and dense crowds.
The design should also align with the visual identity of the holy sites and be suitable for large-scale production and use during the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
The ministry said the challenge focuses on developing practical solutions that improve the user experience, reduce heat stress during movement, and support movement in crowded areas.
It also seeks to establish a unified visual identity for umbrellas used during the Hajj and Umrah seasons, in line with efforts to enhance services for pilgrims and Umrah performers.
