MAKKAH, 14 April 2005 — Makkah Mayor Khaled Nahhas opened the art exhibition to serve as side event to the 1st Islamic Solidarity Games. The exhibition is unique because more than 80 male and female artists from different parts of the Islamic world are participating. This will take place in the four cities of Makkah, Taif, Jeddah and Madinah. There will be three sections in the exhibition. The first section includes 80 different art works, the second section is kids artwork and the third is for the Islamic Sports Federation.
Chad Fans Support Team the Saudi Way
MADINAH — The manager of Chad basketball team thanked the large number of fans that come to support their team against the Maldives. The Chad fans supported their team the Saudi way bringing in drums and speakers to cheer their team. After the basketball match, Chad’s loyal army of fans traveled to the stadium the same day to support the soccer team against Mali.
Senegal Handball Coach Blames Bad Luck
MAKKAH — The Senegal handball coach, Dijani, expressed sadness and blamed bad luck for his team’s early exit. He said he was surprised by their failure to qualify past the group matches. He said that their team is strong and ranks No. 4 in Africa. Dijani said the hard lesson they learned from the experience is never to underestimate the opponent. He tabbed Saudi, Egyptian and Tunisian teams as likely to compete for the title.
Algerian Manager Picks Saudi Team for Gold
JEDDAH — The manager of Algerian football team, Saleh Butajeen, has picked the Saudi team as his bet for the gold medal. He described the performance of the Saudis as unique. He added that the Saudi team boast talented players like strikers Yasser Al-Kahtani and Ahmad Al-Bahri.
