Two Keralites Killed in Road Accident

JEDDAH, 22 April 2005 — Two long-time Indian residents of Jeddah were killed and two injured when their car collided with another car near Madinah yesterday.

Those who died were K. Kunhammad Haji, 55, and P.P Ali Hassan alias Kunjumon, 45.

Kunhammad was a prominent Keralite known in the socio-religious circles. He comes from Vangad in Kannoor district. His wife, Sainaba, and 10-year-old son, Mohammad Sadiq, who were seriously injured in the accident are recovering in two hospitals in Madinah.

Ali Hassan, who was also involved in socio-religious activities, was from Malappuram district of Kerala. Kunhammad and Ali Hassan were both leading members of the local unit of the Sunni Cultural Center in Calicut and other educational and charitable institutions in Kerala.

The accident occurred when the four were accompanying All Kerala Jameat-ul-Ulema General Secretary Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobaker Musliyar who was going to Madinah from Jeddah in a separate car.

Kunhammad Haji was the vice president of the Jeddah unit of S.Y.S. Committee and the treasurer of Markazu Saqafathi Sunniyah Committee, Jeddah unit.
