JEDDAH, 30 April 2005 — Kempinski Hoteliers, founded in Germany over a hundred years ago, which is targeting Saudi vacationers for its 40 luxurious properties around the world, is studying the prospects for establishing its presence in Saudi Arabia.

“While our study for opening hotels across the Kingdom is an ongoing process, we’re targeting Saudi vacationers for our properties of distinction spread across the Middle East, Africa, South America and China, aside from Europe. We’ll be looking for local sponsors, properties and locations to suit our highest standards,” Roland Obermeier, Kempinski Hotels & Resorts’ area director of sales for the Middle East, said at a road show held at Jeddah Hilton on Thursday night.

Kempinski, which has reflected the finest traditions of European hospitality since 1897, would be considering proposals for establishing its presence anywhere in the Kingdom. “We’ll be especially interested in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam and other locations,” Obermeier later told Arab News.

The team’s road show began in Kuwait on Monday, followed by Bahrain on Tuesday and Doha on Wednesday. Its next event is scheduled in Riyadh today.
