Trade Expo Lures Many Countries

JEDDAH, 12 May 2005 — More than 12 countries are sending their companies to take part in Saudi Arabia’s International Trade Fair that opens at the Jeddah International Exhibition Center here at 5 p.m. on Sunday (May 15).

This is the Kingdom’s 23rd multisectoral trade expo for light industries, machinery, consumer goods, clothing, leather goods, fashion accessories, giftware and textiles, which is being organized by Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions Ltd. (ACE).

“Now in its 23rd year, this exhibition holds the track record as the launch pad for new consumer and industrial products by participating national and international exhibitors,” the spokesman for ACE told reporters yesterday.

Alongside a large number of Saudi companies, India, China, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Iran, Lithuania, Germany, and the UAE are among the countries, which are putting up pavilions for their participants.

Ashok Kumar, commercial consul at the Consulate General of India, said two Indian business delegations represented by India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), New Delhi and Indo-Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IACCI) Bombay are taking part in the fair.
