JEDDAH, 19 May 2005 — The US Consulate in Jeddah has announced special summer hours for students, tourists and businessmen to apply for non-immigrant visas.

“In our effort to help applicants to avoid the summer heat, visitors will be welcomed through the gate individually from 7 a.m. to wait inside the US Consulate” on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, said a press note released by the mission yesterday.

Official hours start at 8 a.m. Applicants may enter the consulate not later than 9:30 a.m. Student applicants can take advantage of special student-only application hours (8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.) every Sunday in June and July.

“Since this is the time of year when many students are preparing to travel to US universities for the fall semester, I encourage everyone with plans to travel to the US to apply for visas soon, as the summer rush is upon us,” US Consul General Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley has said.
