Philippine SSS Biometrics ID Now Ready for Applicants

RIYADH, 2 June 2005 — The data capturing machine for the Social Security System (SSS) biometrics ID is now operational and ready to accept applicants for SSS identification cards, the Philippine Embassy announced yesterday.

A press statement from the embassy, quoting a report of the agency’s representative in Riyadh to Ambassador Bahnarim A. Guinomla, said applicants for SSS ID need to present the following:

• At least one month contribution posted at the SSS database;

• Personal appearance at the Philippine Embassy from 12 noon to 4 p.m. for the capture of facial image, finger prints, PIN and signature;

• Presentation of any of the following identification cards: passport, PRC card, Philippine driving license, voter’s ID.

In the absence of such identification cards, the applicant may present any two of the following: TIN card (tax account number card issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue in the Philippines), valid NBI clearance, company ID, savings account passbook, postal ID, police clearance, OWWA ID, old SSS ID, marriage contract, major credit card, birth certificate and senior citizen card.

The report by Danilo Q. Calape, the SSS representative, said the processing of new SSS ID cards will take a maximum of one month.

Applicants will be notified via text message or phone call of the arrival of their ID cards, according to the SSS official's report.
