JEDDAH, 20 June 2005 — LG’s new air-conditioning academy opened here last night with its focus on training Saudis. “Our focus will be on training students aside from contractors and consultants,” Hassan Shaker, CEO, H.G. Ibrahim Shaker Company Ltd., exclusive Kingdomwide distributor of LG air-conditioner, said at a press conference preceding the inauguration. The academy, LG’s second in the Kingdom, aims to upgrade the knowledge and technical skills of service technicians, engineers and others involved in a variety of business sectors. “It will also play a major role in increasing awareness of the LG air-conditioners among contractors, consultants and end-users,” Shaker said. “Quality training has played its part in LG’s success in the regional market,” K.H. Kim, president of LG for the Middle East and Africa operations, said. The company’s Riyadh academy has trained several hundred people since its opening a year ago, and similar academies for installers and contractors are currently in operation in other countries, he said.
