CAIRO, 22 June 2005 — Rotana has chosen Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker to hold the first concert and officially launch the “Rotana 2005 Festival” on July 22, 2005. An agreement was reached between the production company Rotana and the administration of the Lebanese festival to have Rotana as its official sponsor; hence the new name “Rotana 2005 Festival.”
On a related note, negotiations between Fadel and the administration of the Jordanian summer music festival in Jarrash have proven successful, resulting in his participation. The singer has agreed to hold his performance on July 29, 2005 and will perform his new music along with a number of old favorites.
The administration would like to avoid last year’s problem which resulted in the cancellation of Fadel’s performances just a few days before they were scheduled.
