CAIRO, 26 June 2005 — Egyptian cinema is witnessing a new trend this summer in that leading actors in many of the films are singers turned actors.
Many singers are taking advantage of this new trend, seizing the opportunity to take on a second career as a comedy actor.
Singers Hakim, Mustafa Amar, Tamer Husni, and Hamada Hilal have entered the race and are taking part in four different comedies.
Hakim said that for years he has been fascinated by the story of his new film “Ali Spicy” and finally reached a point where he was determined to make it happen.
Describing is first experience in the cinema Hakim said that entering the acting world was a major step for ”I am determined to reach the hearts of millions through the big screen.”
Singer Tamer Husni, also in the running, is very satisfied with his second film, the comedy “Seed Al Atify.” Tamer noted that the film will present him in a new light and he is optimistic of the outcome.
Bringing up the rear is the new musical comedy “Habeeba’s Sons” starring Hamada Hilal.
