JEDDAH, 27 June 2005 — Pakistan International School (English Section), Jeddah held its annual awards ceremony on Tuesday, with Pakistan’s Ambassador Abdul Aziz Mirza as the chief guest. Consul General Masood Akhtar and his wife Shireen Masood, Dr. Shoaib Akbar, welfare attaché and link officer of the school, and his wife Anaila Shoaib, and Dr. Ghulam Akbar Niazi as the guests of honor, a PISJ press release said.
The school has been declared as an attached British Council Center by the University of Cambridge. The ambassador inaugurated the plaque that bears the registration number and certification of the British Council. He congratulated the award winning students and distributed medals and trophies.
Anam Kamran received a gold medal for her outstanding O-level results. Anam, Abdul Rehman Khan and Khadija Khan received certificates for achieving global rankings in the Cambridge University IGCSE exam.
School Principal Syed Esar Hussain Shah reviewed the school’s performance and activities, and referred to its future expansion program. He anticipated better results in the IGCSE and A-level exams held earlier this year.
Three other students — Imran Nasir, Hamza Mohsin and Raza Zameer received awards for their excellent performance in cricket. All of them have represented the Saudi cricket team in international cricket. All top achievers and position holders in all grade levels were awarded trophies and certificates. The principal presented shields to the ambassador, consul general and welfare attaché. Special awards were given to Vice Principal Yasmin Suliman for her meritorious services in academics and Saher Kamran, director finance and administration, for her excellent performance and dedicated services.
Shields were presented to school secretary Rabia Khan, cricket coach and physical education teacher Hamid Rasheed, Transport & Office in charge Mukhtar Jameel, Office Assistant Mohammad Sharif and electrician Khalid Mehmood.
