RIYADH, 17 July 2005 — Mobily, the second mobile service provider in the Kingdom, launched a campaign yesterday to attract new subscribers. Beginning today, a daily draw to pick 30 lucky entrants will win to prizes worth SR1 million for travel program of their choice, “Your Dream Vacation.”
Speaking at a press briefing held at the Faisaliah Hotel, Mobily’s country manager-retail, Taher Al-Dabbagh told reporters that the daily draw would be held among new subscribers who register between July 17 and Aug. 17. Each winner will get a travel package worth of SR30,000. The first draw will be held at Mobily’s Mega Store in Riyadh at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 18. Dabbagh explained that the draw will be among the day’s subscribers registered by the end of office hours.
To liven up the campaign, employees will take to the streets from today to distribute bottles of water free of charge to motorists and pedestrians at the traffic lights to inform them of the new promotion.
Dabbagh pointed out that subscribers who register with in any of the seven packages offered are entitled to participate in the program. The company offers five postpaid and two prepaid packages for its customers. Some 10,000 new subscribers are being registered daily at the various Mobily outlets in the Kingdom. “We hope to attract more customers with this campaign on the strength of our competitive offers and services,” he stressed.
The executive manager for marketing and strategies, M. Rashid Ali Khan said the lucky winners will be able to arrange his or her travel plans with Zahid Travel Agency which has been assigned for this purpose. “The winner can make his travel plan and the travel agent will help issue air tickets and necessary hotel accommodation vouchers within the stipulated value of SR30,000,” he said. He added that the beneficiary will be allowed to purchase any number of air tickets to any destination within the prize money. The tickets will be valid for a period of one year.
Khan said Mobily, it has introduced a full roaming services for its prepaid card customers. “Owners of prepaid cards - Mobily wafer and Mobily anees, can now make and receive phone calls, send and receive SMS and re-charge their prepaid cards while they are abroad.” “The new service is presently available in Bahrain and will be extended to several other countries shortly,” he noted. The company recently signed roaming agreement for postpaid card users with more than 214 mobile operators covering more than 113 countries all over the world.
