AMMAN, 18 July 2005 — Representatives of more than 60 countries and international organizations, including the United Nations and the World Bank, gathered at Jordan’s Dead Sea shore yesterday for a meeting that was due to review progress made toward reconstruction of the war-ravaged neighboring country of Iraq. The two-day meeting, due to kick off today, is hosted by the government of Jordan and chaired by the government of Canada. It is the fourth in a series of conferences held under the supervision of the International Reconstruction Fund Facility for Iraq (IRFFI), organizers said.
