Matchmaker Mistakes Mother and Daughter

JEDDAH, 18 July 2005 — A matchmaker in Makkah made an unforgivable mistake recently as she approached a portly woman to make a marriage proposal, thinking she was the mother of a potential bride. The inadvertent action on the part of the matchmaker during a wedding ceremony in the city caused a commotion as the would-be bride considered it a grievous insult. The girl’s mother, who appeared more beautiful and attractive than her daughter, kept mum during the hullabaloo as the matchmaker’s mistake added color to her beauty and prestige, Okaz newspaper reported yesterday.
