CAIRO, 25 July 2005 — Moroccan singer Samira Saeed rekindled an old flame between her and her Tunisian fans during her performance at the Carthage festival. Samira’s performance drew the largest crowd at the festival.
Samira sang a collection of songs in different dialects varying from Moroccan to Egyptian, and Lebanese.
Samira recently recovered from a severe bronchial infection. The singer was hospitalized for tests and has been advised that she undergo surgery.
Samira fears such an operation may have a negative effect on her voice, and has yet to make a final decision regarding the operation.
Samira’s latest album “Qaweeni Beek” (Make Me Strong), is in the number one spot in record sales in Egypt, Lebanon, and UAE, after her two-year absence from the scenes.
The song “Qaweeni Beek,” also the album title, is in the lead in many song contests on different satellite music channels.
The album was released by the Alam El Phan Production Company after numerous delays, but her fans seem to think it was worth the wait.
