MIRANSHAH, 28 July 2005 — Bank robbers shot dead four people, including two police guards, in a raid yesterday in northwestern Pakistan, an official said. The two gunmen, believed to be foreigners, killed the guards, a cashier and a customer of the Miranshah branch of the Muslim Commercial Bank in North Waziristan, said Tariq Hayat. The bank manager and two customers were wounded by gunshots, he said. Bank officials said the robbers failed to break open the safe and fled in a getaway car with a small sum of money taken from the cash counters.
