JEDDAH, 30 July 2005 — Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, said Saudi Arabia plans to replenish its air force fleet with advanced military aircraft and has sent some of its aircraft abroad to be modernized. These would soon return to the Kingdom and enter service.
Addressing the 4th Air Defense Corps in Abha during a visit to the southern region, Prince Sultan spoke of an ongoing process to modernize the Royal Saudi Air Force by acquiring new multi-purpose aircraft and modernizing existing ones. The aircraft sent abroad will be upgraded to the latest industry standards.
Prince Sultan, who yesterday returned to Riyadh after a two-day visit to the region, inaugurated a military exhibition and inspected a number of military installations. He also opened a number of new projects and attended a ceremony organized in his honor by the people of the Asir region.
