Water Truck as Dowry Money

BURAIDAH, 1 August 2005 — A Saudi man was amazed at the unusual condition of part of the dowry when he asked for a girl’s hand in marriage from a family in Buraidah Al-Watan reported. The family asked the prospective groom to pay SR50,000 in dowry, SR70,000 in gold, a brand new car for the father as a present and, strangely, a water truck for the family. The Saudi man accepted all the conditions but objected to the last, saying that never before had anyone set this as a condition.
