RIYADH — The Philippine Embassy yesterday said it will host the entrance examination of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in November for senior high school students of Filipino schools in the Kingdom.
Interested schools or students can secure application and grades form from the Internet, www.ust.edu.ph, the embassy said in a press statement.
Applicants are to submit a day before the examination date a clear photocopy of their birth certificates, accomplished application and grades forms, two 2” x 2” identical pictures with printed names and signature at the back and non-refundable application fee worth $100 per student.
Consul Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan has been assigned as the contact person in Riyadh.
Executive Director Jose Z. Molano Jr. of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has asked Philippine missions to coordinate with Filipino schools regarding the examination.
The UST, founded by Spanish Dominican missionaries on April 11, 1611, is the oldest university in Asia. It is one of the top universities in the Philippines and one of the most expensive.
It is also one of the largest in terms of student population, and its campus, located at the heart of Manila, is one of the biggest in the national capital.
Last year, the Philippine Embassy also hosted the entrance text of the University of the Philippines (UP), for Filipino students in the Kingdom.
Unlike in the UST, tuition at the state-run UP, considered as the Philippines’ premier educational institution, is subsidized by the government.
