DUBAI, 13 August 2005 — Dubai-based real estate giant Emaar Properties is to build a $4 billion upmarket residential development in Cairo, its first large-scale project in Egypt, a company statement said. The Cairo Heights development will stretch over the Mukattam suburb and feature a mixture of medium and low-rise buildings boasting the most spectacular views of the city and the Nile, the statement said.
It will include a vibrant town center, an owner’s private clubhouse, hotels, restaurants, cafes, schools, swimming pools, healthcare facilities, retail centers and mosques.
Construction of the four-million-square-meter (43-million-square-foot) district, which will have a total of 30,000 luxury apartments, will begin later this year and is scheduled to be completed in 2010.
