JEDDAH, 27 August 2005 — Saudi Telecom Company (STC) yesterday announced 20 percent discounts for its billed Aljawal subscribers on their domestic and international calls.
The discount will be available for five numbers selected by the customer for a monthly fee of SR4, said Saud Al-Duwaish, acting president of the company.
The clients will be given three options. “They can either select five numbers in Aljawal network or four Aljawal numbers and one number outside the network or four Aljawal numbers and one international number,” Al-Duwaish said in a statement.
He claimed that STC was offering competitive rates. “With these additional discounts, our charges for domestic and international calls will be the cheapest in the Gulf region,” he said.
Earlier this month, STC slashed rates by 40 percent for international calls to more than 200 countries. The reductions applied to all STC brands and products including Al-Hatif fixed line, Aljawal postpaid and prepaid Sawa, public phone services of call cabins, prepaid calling card and card phones. This was the third time in as many years that the telecom company slashed its international call rates.
