JEDDAH, 1 September 2005 — A large number of falconers from Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries as well as companies from other parts of the world are expected to participate in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, scheduled for Sept. 12-16.

Mohammed Al-Mazrouei, chairman of the organizing committee, described the exhibition as the largest in the Middle East where 300 exhibitors from more than 30 countries will be participating. “We look forward to making the exhibition an annual festival for falcon and equestrian lovers in the region,” he said.

The exhibition attracts renowned companies manufacturing hunting and equestrian equipment.

“This year we’ll have more distinguished participants including companies specializing in falcon medicines and treatment, falcon breeding farms, producers of falcon training and tracking equipment and manufacturers of all equestrian and horse-breeding requirements,” he said.

Mazrouei said there are nearly 500,000 falconers in the Gulf region, adding that a falcon beauty contest will be held as part of the exhibition. Saudi National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development (NCWCD) will have a pavilion at the show. An auction for 400 horses will also be held on the sidelines of the exhibition.
