Increase in Prices to Be Probed

JEDDAH, 5 September 2005 — The Ministry of Commerce is currently investigating a number of businesses which apparently unnecessarily increased their prices on consumer products. If the violation is proven, then the ministry will submit the cases to the Interior Ministry to determine the punishment. The Interior Ministry previously issued a strict decision to monitor the market to prevent any attempt to increase prices after the 15 percent salary increase.
