Eight Firms Apply for Railway Projects

RIYADH, 6 September 2005 — The general manager for the Saudi Railway, Khaled Al-Yahya, told Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper that eight coalition companies, consisting of local and international companies, applied to qualify for implementing the railway project in the Kingdom that will connect the Eastern and Western provinces. Al-Yahya said that the applications would be reviewed and the decision on the winning bidder would be made during the first half of 2006.
