Makkah Charity Bazaar Takes Place Before Holy Month

JEDDAH, 21 September 2005 — The Makkah Society for Development and Social Affairs held its first charity bazaar yesterday at the Sunset Hotel here. Princess Mashael bint Muqrin ibn Abdul Aziz is sponsoring the event that is set to continue till Sept. 23.

Maya Halfawi, head of women’s programs at the Makkah Society, said that this is the first bazaar in which they have directly concentrated on charity work.

This year’s charity bazaar’s objectives are aimed at improving the process of development and to help families market their products. The society’s role is to facilitate in marketing and also in pricing.

The bazaar also provides other charities to showcase their products. Along with the charities, companies too will put on display their products that are to be sold at special prices.

People can visit the bazaar, opened yesterday, in the morning from 10 a.m.–1 p.m., and in the evening from 9 p.m.– 11 p.m. till Friday.
