Saudi Aramco President & CEO Abdallah S. Jum’ah accepted the “2005 Petroleum Executive of the Year” award at a dinner reception of the Oil and Money Conference held in London on Tuesday. Energy Intelligence, a worldwide energy information service, presented the award. The award is based on a confidential selection process by CEOs and other senior officials of the world’s leading oil companies, according to Thomas Wallin, president of Energy Intelligence. “There is nothing quite like the recognition of one’s colleagues,” Jum’ah said, “because those individuals face the same challenges and difficulties, labor under the same weight of responsibility, and must weather the same ups and downs.” Jum’ah took the opportunity to note that he and his peers were acutely aware of one of the primary challenges to the petroleum industry - the public’s perception of the industry’s role.
