PUNE, 24 September 2005 — The latest string of successes of the Defense and Research Development Organization (DRDO) and its sister wing Armaments and Research Development Establishment on advance technological development in missiles and several other armaments has created jitters in the US administration, which is now keeping a track of the achievements and progress of the Indian defense forces.
One after another in a week’s span the ARDE has revealed more of the potential capabilities of its scientists. The Indian Army has now moved a step closer to getting a futuristic “Integrated Soldier System” for its infantry as the project proposal forwarded by the ARDE was reviewed by the top brass of the Indian Army and a top infantry officer visited the establishment to give its input.
A team of senior army officers, led by an officer of director general rank, has scanned the project report, which was sent three months ago by the ARDE, to find loopholes.
