JEDDAH, 29 September 2005 — The National Commercial Bank held a ceremony in honor of Abdulhadi Shayif, who resigned from the post of the bank’s general manager in June, at Lailaty Hall here last night. A large number of businessmen, mediapersons and NCB officials were present. Abdul Kareem Abu Al-Nasr, who replaces Shayif, will take over as general manager on Saturday, the bank said..
Addressing the ceremony, Abdullah Bahamdan, chairman and managing director of NCB, commended Shayif’s efforts in improving NCB’s services and products during his over 30-year service for the bank. “Mr. Shayif will continue as a member of NCB’s board of directors and its executive committee,” he said.
In his speech, Abu Al-Nasr said Shayif had played a big role in improving the bank’s position at national and regional levels. Shayif said he resigned the job to concentrate more on personal and family affairs after working so long for the bank. He also referred to his efforts in restructuring the bank with the support of other board members. Shayif expressed his confidence that NCB would continue its march forward, making good financial results and transforming it into an Islamic bank as a strategic move as well as by introducing innovative products and services catering to the needs of various sections of society.
He extended his thanks to Bahamdan and all NCB staff for their efforts to strengthen the bank and for organizing the ceremony to honor him. Shayif is now member of the board of several banking and financial institutions including Saudi Railway Organization and Saudi Cable Company and member of the Federation of Arab Banks.
