JEDDAH, 4 October 2005 — Victories by Al-Ahli, Al-Qadisiya and Al-Hilal over Al-Wehda, Al-Nasr and Hazem marked second round action in the Saudi League soccer tournament.
In Makkah’s King Abdul Aziz stadium, Ahli hammered out a fluent 5-1 victory over home team Wehda 5-1. The game was one sided and Wehda were simply no match against Ahli who are trying to recover from their sad exit from the AFC Champions League. Ahli’s next match will be against a tough opponent Nasr of Riyadh in Riyadh next Friday.
In Dammam, Qadisiya of Khobar embarrassed Nasr after winning their match 2-0. Nasr’s first defeat came as a shock to their fans who had been hoping for a good start in the team’s quest to win the championship.
In Al-Rass, Hazem gave Hilal a good fight before losing 2-1. Hilal’s next match is against Al-Ansar of Madinah in Madinah next Friday.
Meanwhile, in Arab Champions League, Al-Ittihad came back from Kuwait with one point after after a scoreless draw in their match with Kuwait. Ittihad pushed forward to score a goal but their efforts were met with stiff resistance from the enemy. The next game in the home and away matchup between the teams will be on Ramadan 18 in Jeddah.

In Buenos Aires, Martin Palermo and Rodrigo Palacio each scored twice to guide Argentine Apertura championship leaders Boca Juniors to a 4-0 victory at Quilmes on Sunday.
Teenage Colombian striker Radamel Garcia Falcao also bagged two goals to help River Plate end a run of three successive defeats with a 3-1 victory over Independiente.
