LONDON, 27 October 2005 — The dollar edged higher against the euro in late trading here yesterday after the single European currency shot up to its highest level in two weeks. The euro was trading at 1.2076 dollars after 1.2104 late Tuesday in New York and after hitting 1.2136 dollars. The dollar was meanwhile at 115.83 yen against 115.01 on Tuesday.

World oil prices climbed yesterday as a rebound in US energy demand offset a large rise in the country’s stockpiles of crude, analysts said.New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in December, rose 41 cents to $62.85 per barrel in pit trading.
