JEDDAH, 18 November 2005 — Municipal authorities have extended to Dec. 22 the deadline for the removal of billboards on roofs and parking lots. They say it is the last chance to remove all ads violating regulations.
After the deadline, the municipality will physically remove all billboard ads at the expense of their owners after which they will have no right to seek retrieval or financial compensation for the losses. The municipality issued notices during the past two months asking owners of the billboard ads to remove them.
Jeddah Mayor Adel Faqeeh said billboard ads licenses issued before the new regulations would be immediately canceled.
As for billboard ads on government property, they would be placed in public auction by the general administration for investment.
