COCHIN, 22 November 2005 — Indian tennis star Sania Mirza walked out of a news conference here on Sunday night declining to answer questions on the raging controversy over her statements on premarital sex.
The 19-year-old tennis sensation began the news conference by saying, “I’m here as the brand ambassador of Malabar Gold. So please restrict yourselves to the subject.”
Seating alongside South Indian movie superstar Mohanlal, the co-brand ambassador of the NRI venture, Sania said to repeated queries on her statement on premarital sex that she had already put out a press statement. “The statement contains all that I wanted to say on the subject,” she said.
“If you have not seen (the statement), it is not my problem,” Sania said before walking out.
