JEDDAH, 3 December 2005 — The Riyadh derby between Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr at Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.
After a scoreless first half, Nasr’s new striker Waleed Al-Olayani scored a gem of a goal in the 48th minute to the ringing cheers of Nasr fans. The goal was the end result of a weaving run by the striker who showed fine control and pace to outstrip three defenders at the top of the box to be poised for the striker.
He just beat an onrushing and a sliding Hilal defender with a neat shallow shot past the bemused Hilal keeper Muhammad Al-Dayea. Stunned by this reverse, Hilal struck back in the 56th minute with a nice header from Brazilian striker Jilison, who met a nice cross by Muhammad Al-Shalhoub inside the penalty box to head home from a narrow angle. Hilal with this point are still on top with 22 points. Nasr is still eighth with seven points.
Hilal, however, came a cropper Al-Ahli 3/2 in a tight Saudi Volleyball League match at the Youth Welfare Presidency hall here. Ahli are still on top with 18 points and Hilal is second with 16 points.
