JEDDAH, 13 December 2005 — The year 2005 has been of historic importance to Saudi Arabian Airlines. This year marks the airline’s 60th anniversary and yesterday in the Golden Lounge at King Abdul Aziz Airport, the airline celebrated the transport of 16 million passengers in 2005. This is a record number for the airline to carry in a single year.
The airline carried more than 112 million passengers between 1998 and December 2005. In 2004, the airline carried 15.7 million passengers, and this year the number will certainly exceed 16 million.
The celebration was attended by the director general of Saudia, Dr. Khalid Ben Bakr, who celebrated along with passenger number 16 million, Mohammed Saeed Al-Johani. The company’s vice presidents and senior managers attended the occasion as well.
