RAMSAU, Austria, 20 December 2005 — Petter Tande and Magnus Moan scored victories in the Nordic combined skiing World Cup for Norway on Sunday while Finnish World Cup leader Hannu Manninen did not make the podium all day.

In the morning, Tande, 20, soared 94.5 meters and 100 meters to get his first career win in a mass start event which was started on Saturday with a 10km cross country portion but couldn’t be completed on that day due to dangerous weather for ski-jumping.

Tande won with 251.5 points from two-time world champion Ronny Ackermann of Germany (241 points) and Moan (237 points).

The competition was contested in the rarely used mass start format in which all athletes first cross-country ski 10 kilometers at the same time. The times are converted to points for the ski-jumping. The sprint event took place in the familiar fashion with Moan leaping 89 meters and then crossing the line first in a cross-country pursuit of 7.5km in 20 minutes 21.1 seconds for his third career win. Compatriot Ola Graesli trailed by 0.8 seconds in his best career finish and Jason Lamy Chappuis of France climbed the podium for the first time ever, placing third with a narrow 0.9-second deficit. Manninen managed no better than sixth and ninth, respectively, on Sunday. But he comfortably leads the World Cup with 419 points from Tande (309) and Moan (290) after six events.
