The UK-based BUPA Foundation is offering up to 750,000 pounds to fund one or more projects over one, two or three years. It is an annual award and this year’s theme is “Health in the workplace.” Entries are open to those based in Saudi Arabia, the UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Spain and Thailand. Previous winners have come from Australia and Hong Kong. The foundation’s objective is to encourage research, which advances thinking and practice in the field of health at work. On this basis entries must be well-designed studies that can promote good health by making people aware of what constitutes healthy behavior, encouraging employers to provide an environment conducive to it and staff motivated to practice it. The foundation hopes that economists, sociologists, psychologists, behavioral scientists and health professionals with a broad range of skills will play a major part in the work funded. The closing date for applications is Jan. 30. Application can be had from www.bupafoundation.com or www.bupame.com.
