JEDDAH, 6 January 2006 — The Gifted Girls’ Patronage Center held an award ceremony yesterday for the young girls who participated in the “Little Innovator Program” sponsored by the Institute of King Abdul Aziz and His Men.
The ceremony was held at Stationary Fantasies on Sultan Street and was attended by the girls’ mothers who were urged by the teachers of the center to nurture and support their daughters’ talents.
The center aims to give extra attention to elementary and secondary students who excel in their studies by providing them with after-school and summer programs.
Twenty-three girls aged between 8 and 11 participated in the center’s latest program “The little innovator”. They presented their ideas, which included a high-tech dream house, a robot, and a bed that records dreams so they can be played back.
“These are creative ideas that might sound outlandish, but we should encourage our kids to let their minds expand and explore,” said Suzan Banaja, the center’s director.
