CAIRO, 9 August 2006 — Fans of singer May Kasab have discovered recently that she is as good in acting as she is in singing and dancing, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.
The singer has landed lead roles in several upcoming movies.
Director Hassan Eisa presents May as a lottery sales girl in “No One Sleeps in Alexandria.” In the movie, a musician discovers the sweet voice of the sales girl and turns her into a celebrated singer. The movie stars Majed Al-Misri, Tariq Lutfi and Madeline Tabri.
May is also appearing alongside Ahmad Al-Faishawi in the upcoming comedy “Tamir and Shouqiyah.”
Her third role is in “Ghavi Musalsilat” with Madhat Saleh.
May began her career on the Egyptian stage three years ago in a duet with Majd Al-Qasim and shot to fame after releasing her first album, “Haga Taksif.”
Actor Jabir Weaves ‘Thread of Love’
RIYADH, 9 August 2006 — Saudi actor Muhammad Jabir said he is working alongside actor Hussein Abdul Rida in the role of Al-Aydaroosi in a new TV serial “Habl Al-Mawaddah” or “Thread of Love,” which is scheduled to be aired during Ramadan, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.
“Habl Al-Mawaddah,” written by Hussein and directed by Farook Al-Qaysi tackles social issues such as terrorism, corruption, hypocrisy and rising prices.
The cast of the 30 — episode serial includes Muhammad Al-Ajaimi, Tariq Al-Ali, Ahmad Al-Salman, Suad Ali, Asriya Al-Zamil, Khaled Al-Boraiki, Amira Muhammad, Muhammad Al-Sairafi and Haya Al-Shoaybi.
