Premium Prices for Hajja Brides

DAMMAM, 12 January 2006 — Brides who have already performed Haj are getting higher dowries in some Eastern Province tribes, Al-Watan daily reported. The reason for the premium is because husbands will not have to pay later to take their wives to the pilgrimage, which is compulsory for all Muslims who are physically and financialy capable. Conversely, grooms who marry women who have not performed the pilgrimage are getting a dowry discount.
