Too Much Enthusiasm for Stoning the Devil

MINA, 12 January 2006 — Some pilgrims are taking the stoning of the symbolic devil very seriously, and getting injured in the process, reported Okaz daily. A Haji by the name of Syaf received wounds to his head as he tried to get close to the Jamarah wall to lob his stones. Another Haji was seen getting so enthusiastic for his hatred of evil that he took off his sandals and tossed them at the wall. The devil may have been the one to cause him to hyperventilate. But he owed Allah thanks for the oxygen he received from helpful paramedics who were on the scene to respond to the health needs of the pilgrims.
