DAMMAM, 22 January 2006 — Indian expatriates in the Eastern Province have called for the establishment of a consulate here and a Saudi consulate in the southern Indian state of Kerala.

The demand has been voiced by Navodaya Samskarika Vedhi-Saudi Arabia, an informal group of expatriates from Kerala.

A single-window procedure for expediting the repatriation of the bodies of expatriates, establishment of life and medical insurance programs for the community, diplomatic immunity for Indian school, amnesty for illegal Indians, and release of 15 expatriates languishing in jails for want of blood money are among their other demands.
