Putting Your Brand on IT
People might notice the cover of a book you’re reading, but how often do they pay attention to the cover of your laptop or notebook computer? Laptop Design USA has created a unique way to use the lid of your laptop or notebook as a traveling billboard.
Laptop Design has developed a high-quality process to apply a durable, automotive-quality finish to exterior surfaces, without touching the computer’s internal parts or affecting the manufacturer’s warranty. The company’s paint specialists can match virtually any color to produce matte, high gloss and metallic finishes. Using a customer’s proprietary colors, logos and trademarks, Laptop Design provides custom designed layouts for the greatest visual appeal.
Branding of laptops in this manner not only works as a marketing tool to build name recognition but is also an attractive anti-theft measure. For more information, click to www.laptopdesignusa.com.
Advanced Digital Camera Battery
This month, Duracell will bring to market the PowerPix, a disposable digital camera battery that it claims delivers up to twice as many pictures in a digital camera as an ordinary alkaline battery. Available in AA and AAA sizes, PowerPix utilizes advanced NiOx technology, a Nickel Oxy Hydroxide formulation that delivers significantly longer-lasting battery performance in digital cameras when compared with an ordinary alkaline battery.
Combining convenience and value, PowerPix is especially well suited for those who use their digital cameras with moderate frequency — such as two or three times a month. The new battery will be sold in four- and eight-cell packs in AA size and four-cell packs in AAA size. The suggested retail price for a four-cell pack is $5.99.
DUO-CARE Monitors High Blood Pressure
GenExel-Sein, Inc. has received the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510k clearance for DUO-CARE, a device that combines a home-use blood glucose and wrist blood pressure monitor — eliminating the need for two separate devices. This new product helps track the two biggest risk factors for Type 2 diabetics.
DUO-CARE will be distributed from GenExel-Sein’s US Forecare subsidiary and will come to market in Q2 2006. The lightweight, easy-to-use monitor empowers users to take an active role in managing diabetes and hypertension. DUO-CARE provides users superior technology for blood glucose and pressure monitoring through the incorporation of Fast Tracking Temperature technology (FTT) and Advanced Oscillometric Algorithm (AOA). This state-of-the-art technology allows for consistent and accurate blood pressure measurements for patients with normal circulation, as well as those with arteries that are hardening.
The Blood Glucose Monitor delivers blood glucose values within five seconds. It requires a small blood sample size which reduces pain typically associated with testing. The monitor stores 150 blood glucose values. The Blood Pressure Monitor takes measurements on the wrist. It stores 60 blood pressure measurements and has a easy-to-read digital display. A PC link is available.
No More Scratches
Scratch-Less Disc Industries (www.scratchlessdisc.com) has developed an optical disc designed to eliminate scratching and scuffing. The disc has 20 small, patented Aero-Bumps, that elevate the disc to avoid contact, thereby eliminating damage. The disc’s secondary layer of protection is achieved by adding a polymer coating, which gives it an extra glass-hard layer of protection. The discs also feature the Easy-Up-Edge, a slanted/raised edge that allows the user to easily pick up the disc from a flat surface. The Scratch-Less Disc is currently available in CD-R and CD-RW. DVD formats will debut Q1 2006.
